Situated on a sand dune overlooking the Indian Ocean, Island Vibe Jeffreys Bay features a bar and restaurant, as well as a communal, self-catering kitchen. The Surfside Restaurant offers guests breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are a la Carte, but dinner is a set menu that needs to be booked ahead of time. There are also BBQ facilities available. Delicious thin based pizzas are available out of meal times.
Island Vibe Backpackers have 28 guest rooms, from 6 sleeper dorm rooms to Superior Double rooms, depending on your individual needs. The 6 sleeper dorm rooms and Double “two sleeper” rooms share a communal bathroom. The Double or twin room and Superior Double rooms have their own en-suite bathrooms.
Island Vibe offer a safe at the front desk, luggage storage, dry cleaning/laundry service, area and airport shuttle, free parking and free WiFi in public areas and rooms.
If you are keen to learn to surf, Island Vibe offers free lessons onsite with wetsuits and surfboards available to hire.
Although we did not partake in many of the activities that Island Vibe had to offer, we were amazed at how many of the activities and amenities were being enjoyed by all the guests.
There was a large group of young German girls that had been out learning to surf, the bar and the entertainment area outside was busy, the entertainment crew were out setting up for a Hawaiian Theme Party, the pizza ovens were overflowing with orders, and everyone was just laid back and enjoying themselves.
It’s not often that you go to a place where the guests would rather stick around and enjoy all that their accommodation has to offer, rather than go out for the evening.
The bar prices are inexpensive, and the beers are ice cold. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We got to relive our backpacker days while enjoying drinks overlooking the ocean and a beautiful sunset with a couple of young Germans on a “South African Safari”.
