Safaris for the Veterinary Profession are only for Veterinarians, Vet Nurses, Technicians and Vet Students, wanting an in-depth look at wildlife and its associations with Veterinary Science. A unique insight into wildlife and Veterinary Science.
Brothers Safaris offers a unique insight into the world of wildlife and Veterinary Science in Southern Africa and aims to share this with Veterinary professionals from abroad. All aspects, from the most basic knowledge pertaining to a species, to more detailed aspects of wildlife management and Veterinary involvement, are covered in relation to your chosen course/safari.
Various Veterinarians, experts in their fields, are often drafted in to share their views and knowledge in an attempt to give a balanced and experienced viewpoint to visitors.
VETERINARY PROFESSION SAFARIS
Either tailor-make an itinerary with your group’s specific needs in mind or join a set/scheduled course/safari. The current 16-day training course is aimed at Veterinary Students, but other veterinary professionals are welcome to join in! The course can also be modified to suit a group’s specific needs, and should thus be used as a guide to what is possible. Alternately, tailor a safari/course with Brothers Safaris for qualified vets with an interest in wildlife but who do not want such a long technical course.
You can also join a Species-Specific Interactive Safari or Immobilisation Safari and we’ll modify it to meet your group’s requests and focus more on the Veterinary aspects. In association with your local Veterinary Council, you should be able to earn “Continuing Education” points through attending a course/safari with us. Most of the immobilisation and wildlife work takes place in the winter months (April to September roughly), but we can often accommodate work in the summer by working in association with facilities such as breeding centres and doing elective field procedures very early in the morning before it gets too hot. Groups are always small, normally a maximum of 8 (14 on vet student courses), ensuring a personal hands-on experience. Bigger groups can sometimes be accommodated upon request.
Your participation funds the elective Veterinary procedures on the course/safari, thus funding essential conservation procedures!
